This morning, we transferred to the airport for our flight to Reykjavik. Upon arrival, we drove to Thingvellir National Park, a place of immense historical and geological significance. Walking through the park, we marveled at the fissure marking the divide between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. It was fascinating to learn about the Althing, Iceland’s historic parliament founded here in A.D. 930, and to stroll along the gorge leading into the rift valley itself.

For lunch, we enjoyed wild freshwater trout at a charming lakeside hotel before heading to
Great Geysir, Iceland’s most famous geyser. The sight of its eruptions was unforgettable. We then visited Gullfoss, the “golden” waterfall, which captivated us with its breathtaking beauty.

Our journey continued as we drove to Iceland’s southern coast, arriving in
Selfoss—a picturesque agricultural town and one of South Iceland’s main regional centers. The serene surroundings and vibrant local atmosphere made for a perfect end to our day of exploration.
