Our forth day we embarked on an unforgettable journey to the breathtaking Lake Myvatn, one of the world’s most incredible natural wonders. The lake and its surroundings, featuring bubbling mud flats, expansive lava fields, and lunar-like volcanic craters, form a stunning national park that left us in awe.

We began our adventure by exploring the region’s unique “pseudo craters” at
Skútustaðir, marveling at their resemblance to miniature volcanoes. We also visited the Namaskard geothermal area, where we witnessed boiling mud pots amidst a surreal landscape of vibrant colors and steam vents. The bizarre lava formations at Dimmuborgir were another highlight, with their unique shapes and rich folklore.

Our journey continued to the flat volcano system at
Krafla, which provided a glimpse into Iceland’s volcanic history. Finally, we headed to the incredible Glacial River Canyon National Park, where we took a walk to the jaw-dropping Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall and often referred to as Iceland’s “Niagara.” The sheer force and beauty of this waterfall left us speechless.

After a day filled with natural wonders, we returned to our hotel in time for dinner, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences we shared together in this enchanting part of Iceland.
